MAKE A HAPPY HOPPERS GAME

This game is super easy to make and super fun to play.  You can use it as a math activity.  Have your students play 5 times and add their scores.  Or have them subtract the low score from the high score to find the difference.

AMPHIBIAN FUN FACTS

· Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrates (animals with backbones).

· They have smooth skin.

· They can breathe and drink through their skin.

· They live part of their life in water and part on land.

· Amphibians go through different stages of life (metamorphosis)  They are born in the water and live like fish until they grow limbs and crawl out of the water to start a life on the land.

· Amphibians need a moist environment to survive.

· Frogs and toads are basically the same.  The difference is their skin.  Toads have dry skin and warts.

· Salamanders can sever their tail to distract predators.  The tail keeps moving while the salamander runs away.

· Salamanders can regenerate limbs.  If they lose a tail or an arm or leg, they just grow a new one.

· A wood frog can survive being frozen.  Its heart stops beating and its blood turns to ice.  When the temperatures get warmer, the wood frog thaws out and continues on as if nothing happened.

· Amphibians can be tiny.  Some frogs are smaller than 1/2 an inch.  They can also be huge.  There is a Chinese salamander that can grow to 6 feet and weight up to 80 pounds.
