DOOR KNOB DELIVERY
A BASKETFUL OF SPRINGTIME
Hang a basket filled with springtime fun on a door knob.
Knock on the door.
Then run away.
This craft project is fun to make. You can color it any way you’d like. Then cut it out and fold it. Fill it with pencils, stickers, toys, candy, or other surprises and give it to a friend or neighbor.
SPRINGTIME FACTS
- Spring begins on March 20th or 21st when the sun crosses above the Earth’s equator (the Vernal Equinox). Meteorologists consider March 1st to be the first day of spring.
- The Earth’s tilt makes spring possible. As spring begins, the Earth is not tilted toward or away from the sun. Days and nights are equal in length of time.
- Spring is a time of renewal. Animals come out of hiding or return to cooler climates. Baby animals are born and plants begin to grow.
- Spring has extreme weather changes. There are often severe thunderstorms in the spring. March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb or vice versa. April showers bring May flowers.
- Eostre is the Germanic goddess of spring.
- There is an ancient Greek myth to explain the spring season. It’s called the Abduction of Persephone. As the story goes, Persephone (daughter of Zeus and Demeter) was taken to the underworld by Hades and kept there for 6 months. When she was returned, Demeter was so happy she made the earth bloom and grow.
