Winter Fun

CELEBRATE WINTER!

These are winter activities from past blogs. Click on either picture to go to the blog post. There’s a printable pattern page for each craft.

Here are some more winter activities for you and your kids or students:

INDOOR CROSS COUNTRY SKI RACES – Place a sheet of paper under each shoe.  Keep your feet pressed to the floor as you “ski” across the floor.  You can have a paper ski race with a friend.  This is a great leg workout!

SNOW GRAFFITI  – (This activity is for cold, snowy climates.)  Fill a spray bottle with a few drops of food coloring and water.  Bundle up, head outside, make some snow art!

SNOW BUBBLES – This is an activity for a cold winter climate.  You can do this outside on a day that is around 0 degrees and calm.

Make Bubble Solution  – In a bowl add  5/6 c warm water and 2 1/2 Tbsp corn syrup.  Mix well.  Add 2 Tbsp sugar.  Stir until sugar dissolves.  Add  2 1/2 Tbsp dish soap; stir gently so you don’t make suds.   Chill mixture outside for 30 minutes.

Make a Bubble Blower Bottle – Drill a straw-sized hole in a water bottle lid.  Put the lid on the bottle.  Slide a straw through the hole.  (About 3” of the straw should be inside the bottle.)  Wrap modeling clay around the straw at the top of the lid to create an airtight seal.

How to blow ice bubbles – Dip the straw into the bubble solution.  Then hold your bubble blower above the snow and squeeze to blow a bubble onto the snow.  (You can blow a bubble into the air, but it will crack into pieces when it hits the ground.)
