PLAY A READING GAME – Pirate Surprise
You’ll need letter magnets or letter tiles. Select 3 or 4 letter magnets that spell a word. For example, choose the magnets p, i, n, & k. Place them in the treasure chest in random order. Tell your child that the pirate has left a clue in the treasure chest. Have your child open the treasure chest and rearrange the letters to figure out the clue. Print the word on a sheet of paper. Make another word. When you have written 5 words on the paper, have your child read them and try to guess what the pirate clues mean. *They probably don’t mean anything, but your child might have an interesting idea about the what the clues mean.
