Happy New Year!

Celebrate the Seasons with Activity Placemats

In 2026, each of my blogs will have a printable placemat (activity page).  Each placemat will have a theme to represent the month or season.  And, because I am a fiend for phonics, there will be a placemat for each letter of the alphabet.  This one is N for New Year. If you are having a celebration or introducing a seasonal theme, the placemats are a great way to get things started.

The NEW YEAR placemat has activities your elementary age kids can do to celebrate the new year. You can click the image at the top of this page to look at or print the placemat. I’ve also included links to past crafts from my blog that you can make to celebrate the new year.

MAKE THESE CRAFTS TO CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR

Here’s another craft you can make to celebrate the new year:

NOISE MAKERS – You’ll need:  An empty water bottle with a lid, tissue paper (cut in 1 to 1 1/2” squares), school glue, water, and a paintbrush.  Mix 1 Tbsp water and 2 Tbsp glue in a bowl.  Have your child paint a section of the water bottle with the glue mixture and press tissue paper squares onto the glued area.  Cover the water bottle with tissue paper squares, but not the lid.    Let it dry for an hour.  Take the lid off of the water bottle and fill the bottle with one of the following:  A few pennies, a Tbsp of rice, a Tbsp of popcorn kernels, a few old crayons….  put the lid back on the bottle and shake it.  *You can dump the bottle and fill it with a different item to hear how it changes the sound of the shaker.
